DEADLIEST CATCH Smashes Records, MYTHBUSTERS Blows Up Ratings in U.S.

The Tuesday, June 9, premiere episode (9 PM) of DEADLIEST CATCH rang in the largest average audience in the series history for P18-49 (2,662K), W25-54 (1,170K), and W18-49 (1,107K). The episode earned its highest P18-49 rating ever (2.33) and its second highest P25-54 rating (2.55), with a 2.91 HH rating. In addition, DEADLIEST CATCH was the #1 non-sports prime telecast of the night among both broadcast and cable for key demos including M18-49 (1,591K) and M25-54 (1,555K).

The finale of OUT OF THE WILD: THE ALASKA EXPERIMENT, which premiered after DEADLIEST CATCH at 10 PM, ranked among the top prime cable programs for the night for key demos including P18-49 (1,228K), M18-49 (780K), P25-54 (1,398K), M25-54 (831K).

For the night on June 9, Discovery Channel was the #1 cable network for P18-49 (1,228K), M18-49 (780K), P25-54 (1,398K), M25-54 (831K), and and P2+ (2,259K) delivery.

AFTER THE CATCH, the annual after show bull session featuring all five captains and special guests, and hosted this year by CASH CAB’s Ben Bailey, returns for its third season on June 16 at 10 PM (ET/PT) following DEADLIEST CATCH.

Continuing Discovery Channel's dominance, the Wednesday, June 10, premiere episode of MYTHBUSTERS (9 PM) was the #1 cable program in primetime for the second week in a row among M25-54, M18-49 and M18-34 delivery. In June 2009, MYTHBUSTERS is the #5 Wednesday program in all of primetime television in M18-34 delivery, beating several broadcast programs including I Am a Celebrity... (NBC), Law and Order (NBC), CSI: NY (CBS), Criminal Minds (CBS) and The Unusuals (ABC). The series is posting triple-digit delivery gains over its June 2008 timeslot among all key demos, including P25-54 (+105%), M25-54 (+106%) and P18-49 (+114%).

In May 2009, MYTHBUSTERS ranked as the #2 non-sports cable program in Wednesday primetime among M18-49 and M18-34, behind Spike's Ultimate Fighter.

Currently in its seventh season, MYTHBUSTERS uses science to uncover the truth behind popular myths and legends. Hosted by Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, and build team members Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara, the MYTHBUSTERS mix scientific method with gleeful curiosity and plain old-fashioned ingenuity to create their own signature style of explosive experimentation. Called “the best science show on television,” the series has aired on Discovery Channel since October 2003.
