The world is responding to the recent and tragic events in Haiti. As you have seen over the past week, Discovery is supporting the ongoing relief efforts through our Employee Disaster Relief Matching Program, airing PSAs across our global portfolio of networks and digital properties in all regions of the world, and supporting the work of our partners at the American Red Cross, The Ad Council, The International Federation of the Red Cross, Save the Children and the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.
We also are pleased to announce that Discovery Communications will join forces with the international media industry to raise much needed funds to support the hundreds of thousands of victims in Haiti. As part of this support, Discovery Health Channel and Planet Green will air the two-hour celebrity "Hope for Haiti" telethon this Friday, January 22.
The telethon, hosted by George Clooney, will air from 8 PM through 10 PM (ET/PT) and will be presented without commercial interruption. Donations raised during the telethon will benefit the organizations Oxfam America, Partners in Health, Red Cross, UNICEF and Yele Haiti Foundation. Discovery Health and Planet Green join networks such as ABC, BET, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX, HBO, and MTV.
Read see the release for more information on the 'Hope for Haiti' telethon. We look forward to representing Discovery Communications in this incredibly important mission and thank all of you for your personal support for our efforts to aid the people of Haiti.
