Science Channel's SPACE WEEK Delivers Stellar Double-Digit Ratings Increases

This year, Science Channel's SPACE WEEK looked to the future of humans in space with the six-part series EXODUS EARTH, featuring host and physicist Dr. Basil Singer, as well as Dr. Michio Kaku demystifying the mysteries of the universe in CHEAT SHEET TO THE MYSTERIES OF THE UNIVERSE and a special episode of BUILD IT BIGGER that examined NASA's massive, next generation rocket — Ares.

The focus of the week resonated with viewers as the network's third annual celebration of everything beyond Earth's atmosphere experienced double-digit ratings increases in all key demographics (P25-54, M25-54, P18-49, M18-49 and HH) versus SPACE WEEK 2008.

The highest-rated night of the week was Tuesday night which brought in 2.2 million viewers (P2+) overall to the network during the week of June 21-26. The night drew in 141,000 P25-54 viewers on average, driven by the premiere of episode four of EXODUS EARTH, which was also the top-rated program of SPACE WEEK 2009 with 155,000 P25-54 viewers on average. Tuesday, was not only the highest-rated night of the week, but it also achieved Science Channel's best average delivery ever on a Tuesday night in primetime among HHs (155,000) and P2+ (286,000).
