Discovery Channel Ranks in Top 5 on Key Nights and Across Key Demos in U.S.

Discovery Channel secured a top five spot across all U.S. ad-supported cable last week fueled by returning series DIRTY JOBS and MYTHBUSTERS, new series GHOST LAB, and Discovery Sundays special, DISCOVERING ARDI. Delivering consistently strong audiences on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday positioned the network as the #3 cable network in primetime for Men 25-54 on Tuesday and Sunday, and #6 on Wednesday. The network also ranked in the top give for Persons 25-54 (#4), Persons 18-49 (#5) and Men 18-34 (#5).

For the night on Tuesday, DIRTY JOBS was the #1 non-sports 9 PM cable telecast for Persons, Men 25-54 and Men 18-49 delivery, coming in after the Major League Baseball wildcard game. Across primetime, DIRTY JOBS was among the top five cable telecasts for Men 25-54 (#4), Persons 25-54 (#5), and Men 18-49 (#5).

Contributing to the strong Tuesday night ranking, GHOST LAB exceeded the 4Q08 time slot (Tuesday 10-11 PM) for Persons 25-54 (3%), driven by double-digit gains among women. The October 7 return of MYTHBUSTERS was the #1 non-sports 9p cable telecast among Men 18-49 and Men 18-34 in delivery and ratings.

Continuing Discovery Sundays' appointment viewing, DISCOVERING ARDI was seen by 4.3 million viewers across the 9-11 PM ET and PT telecasts. The premiere of DISCOVERING ARDI was cable's #2 non-sports telecast for M25-54 delivery. This strong showing drove the network's position as #3 primetime cable network spot for M25-54 delivery.
